Johnson Farm

It's starting to become a V Family tradition to go get our tree the day after Thanksgiving. We've always gone to Johnson Farm to pick out our tree but last year we realize how much fun it is to go on opening day. They have wagon rides, pumpkin bowling and beautiful weather!

This year Naveen and Keira even won a free cookie for getting the pumpkin through the tractor wheel. She was super excited, as I am sure you can imagine any 3 year old would be about a free cookie. :)

There was a little drama... as you will see in the pictures, the hatch door on the Subaru fell on my nose. Ouch! Luckily, as a good mom, I was prepared for blood and had a band-aid in the diaper bag so we patched me up as best we could, got our tree, and then I got 5 stitches later that night. It looked pretty bad, but I was still surprised that the doctor needed to put in 5 stitches. I'll spare you those pictures!

Thanksgiving 2012

The V's were up early to get prepped and ready for Turkey Day. The girls helped me do some baking in the kitchen. We made mini pumpkin pies and the long time tradition - candy Tom Turkey.

Akemi doesn't look too happy about it, and K is having a cookie for breakfast!Untitled

Naveen was outside getting Grillington ready...
we decided to smoke the turkey this year. Should be interesting.

Jim and Sumita joined us for our day filled with eating, drinking and celebrating all that we are thankful for!  There's nothing like sharing the holidays with friends that feel like family!

Lunch - Carrot/Crab Soup with Salad
Dinner - Beet Salad, Brussel Sprouts, Green Beans, Stuffing, Cranberries and of course, Turkey! Dessert - Mini Pumpkin Pies with whipped cream, caramel or chocolate sauce

Hidden Villa

Keira's preschool took a trip out to Hidden Villa. I've always heard great things about the place, but have never been there. It did not disappoint. The docents were wonderful and full of knowledge. The kiddos loved get up close and personal with the animals and in the garden. I'm hoping to get back there sometime with Naveen and Akemi. They have lots of great weekend programs too!

 Wow! That's a big cow!

MRI, Clinic and Dex Pulse #5

Our visit to LPCH this month fell on Halloween.  Keira was excited to see her doctors all dressed up and totally scored on some extra treats at the hospital.

Naveen and I were just happy to hear that her MRI results came back clear!  Two years and no signs on the neuroblastoma returning!  :)   Hopefully this was Keira's last MRI, however, Dr. Twist felt that to be cautious we should do an ultra sound of her abdomen next fall at three years, as another way to make sure things continue to be clear without putting Keira through the anesthesia part of a scan.
No complaints from us on that one.

We also realized that the last four weeks went by really fast with not much to report.  We did have our yearly follow-up with Dr. Ambler, Keira's neuro-psychologist, earlier this month.  The test results looked good.  Keira is a normal 3 1/2 year old.  :)

Halloween was Keira's first day of her next Dex Pulse which was a bit of a bummer since she doesn't feel her best, but Keira didn't let it get her down.  Thursday and Friday were long days for her but she managed to get through it with some extra sleep and snuggles from her favorite people.

Love our little panda bear!

Princess Party

Keira was invited to her first Princess Party for Madison's 3rd Birthday.

We borrowed a Snow White play dress from a friend in case she wanted to dress up, however, she said she preferred to wear her SF Giants tshirt.

Snow White's magic did rub off on her as the day went by... after singing, "Happy Birthday" Keira suddenly decided she wanted to put on then Snow White dress.  :)
