Hiking in Marin and Walkabout in SF

We're a bit backlogged these days, so this post was actually one for the weekend of May 16. This weekend reminded us of why we live in San Francisco. Amazing weather up and down the coast, coupled with hoards of crazies running from one end of the City to the other. This weekend San Francisco held one of it's most defining events, the annual running of Bay to Breakers, where a bunch of people get dressed up, drunk, and decide to run from one end of SF (bay) to the the other (breakers). Naturally, there are some that actually take the run seriously, these people typically don't live in the city. Most make a whole day (or weekend) event out of it and go crazy with preparations, costumes, and floats.

We decided to head up to Marin Saturday afternoon for Keira's first hike up by Muir Beach, followed up by an afternoon latte in the plaza at Mill Valley. We packed up the car with little miss hiker and one of her six carrying contraptions that we have accumulated (so far).

On Sunday we went for a long walk around the city:

We started out by walking over to the Lower Haight, where we saw droves of Bay 2 Breakers walking (or stumbling) back from their morning run (stumble) to the ocean. We then had brunch up in Cole Valley, walked up to Buena Vista Park, and back down through the Castro back home for an afternoon latte at our (newly discovered) next door bakery Thorough Bread.
