Getting Ready for Baby V

It was so nice having family out here to help us get ready for the baby. My dad and Naveen painted the nursery (Leap Frog Green). My mom, sister, aunts, and grandmas helped to unpack, organize and put together all the baby stuff from the shower. Jessie also took me to Babies R Us to buy diapers, wipes and the little things I had no idea I needed. I was really sad to see them leave today, but feel like our house is officially ready!

Valentine's Day

This year Valentine's Day was all about the love we have for our little girl. We spent the day at Marilou's house surrounded by family and friends. Baby V is already so spoiled. We can not believe how generous everyone was with the clothes and gifts. I don't think our condo is big enough!

Mexico

Mexico was amazing. It was wonderful being able to hang out with Gautham, Lara and their new puppy, Cili, for an entire week. I knew we missed having them in SF with us, but I didn't realize just how much until we were together again. We spent some time in Mexico City before heading to Oaxaca. What an experience to live abroad in such a beautiful place surrounded by such culture. We hung out in Oaxaca, saw some cool ruins, ate lots of yummy food and had plenty of time to play cards and talk. After ringing in 2009 we took off for a short trip to Puerto Esquindito. The weather was fantastic. We spent a whole day just lounging on the beach and playing in the ocean. We were sad to leave our friends but were so thankful for the time we had together and that we made the choice to come to Mexico after all.

Galapagos Guessing Game

Now that my belly is starting to show I figured it was finally time to tell the kids at school. Jamie and Rebecca thought it would be fun to play a guessing game with the village. They came up with "clues" for the "surprise".

- something's growing
- it will keep growing
- it will make a lot of people really happy
- it'll be noisy
- we think it'll be kind of light brown
- it will change one family's life a lot
- all of your parents have one of these
- it's oval-shaped and small
- it'll be messy
- it'll sleep a lot

Then they let kids guess.... no one was even close and one child thought it had to be a guinea pig!

The next clue was,

- it's in this room right now, but you can't really see it

Still they were not catching on so Rebecca insisted we all stand up and have the kids look at our bellies to determine who had a baby growing. I'm not sure that worked out as well as she had hoped but the news was out. It was really sweet how excited the kids were for us.
