Quick Update

We wanted to let everyone know that Keira's MRI came back clear!  Yay!

Next MRI is in October.

Sorry for the delayed update, but we had a little snafu with our domain and we were off-line for the past few weeks.  Thanks to Naveen for getting everything back in working order.  :)

In other OMS news...

We are on the next steroid wean and Keira is down to 3.37ml every other day.  So far things seem like they are going OK.  She's a typical 3 year old... negotiating, challenging authority, pushing for more independence and having as much fun as she can cram into a day.  :)

We go back to see Dr. Effinger and Dr. Twist on June 15th and at that time we will most likely wean again.  That will be the dosage that we were at last November/December when we noticed the flare so lots and lots of positive thoughts that her body is ready for less medication this time around.  We're obviously feeling a bit anxious about it but we also know how important it is to get K off the prednisone so we will continue to move forward with her treatment and hope for the best.  If Keira has taught us anything in the past year and a half it is that she is a strong and determined girl.

I am hoping to get some pictures of our girls online soon... they are both growing up so much!

Hugs from us to you!

Cinco de Mayo

We love being in the same state as the Iyers again... and it's been so much fun watching K, B and N get to know each other. It's pretty obvious that they are going to be good friends.

I hope Bodhi can keep up with the girls!

Planet Granite

Rock climbing is actually a really great core strengthening activity, however when Naveen asked me if I wanted to take Keira I wasn't so sure. Ataxia is always something we're concerned about with K's OMS so anything extra we can do to help her be stronger is a bonus.

We figured she is harnessed in and it would be worth trying at least once. If she's not into it right now, we can always try again in another year or two. Although K was a little nervous (which comes out as silliness and drives her dad nuts), I think she did pretty good.

Here's Keira... all harnessed and ready to go.  She looks super excited don't you think?  :)Untitled

K started to get apprehensive when she was higher than Naveen so he decided to climb up with her. Untitled

And before we left, Naveen even got a chance to try out his skills.

Mother's Day Brunch

Keira's preschool invited all the moms for a special brunch. The children did a wonderful job spoiling us for the morning. They decorated, served us brunch (K passed out the plates!), and sang a special song. Akemi was great up until the very end when she was ready to go home!

Boo Boo's Visit

It's hard to go back to work after being out on maternity leave. You spend all this time with your little one and just when they are able to do fun things it's time to go back. To help me with the transition, Boo Boo offered to come out for a week. We were all pretty excited!
