Greg, Ale and Violeta in SF

We were lucky enough to spend the day with our good friends who are back in the states after a year in Rome. This was the first time we got to meet little Violeta in person. She is such a happy, beautiful baby, one day was not enough! I guess we will have to plan a trip to hang out with them in Colorado... soon!

Happy Easter!

Check out our little bunny! We had a pretty quiet Easter this year as we were just getting home from our roadtrip but we still have a couple of cute pictures to share. Hoppy Easter and Happy Spring!

Roadtrip

It's been a few months since we have hit the road, so we decided to take advantage of my April break and get away for a few days. Since Naveen was not able to take off too much time from his new job we chose Santa Barbara as our destination.

I have to say Keira is becoming quite the expert when it comes to roadtrips - she knew which books and cds she wanted for the car and was careful in her choice of "friends" that she packed for the week. The drive down was beautiful and quicker than we thought. We found the perfect little inn that reminded us of our stay down in Cusco, Peru a few years ago. The staff was super friendly and accommodating which we notice a lot more now that we have a kiddo. :)

We didn't have an agenda but found lots of fun ways to spend our days which included hanging out on the beach, going for a run, swimming in the pool, and finding the best parks for K.

After a few days of relaxing we figured it might be fun to get back in the car and take the scenic route home. We took a detour to the wine region and did some wine tasting, with another pit stop in SLO for tri-tip at Fireside and then made our way up to Monterey.

We woke up early on Saturday and drove down to Big Sur for a beautiful spring hike. We saw lots of interesting critters and the flowers we in full bloom.

After our hike we stopped for a burger and fries at Nepenthe and then hit the Dennis the Menace Park back in Monterey. To top off a perfect day we had sushi at Crystal Fish.

It's always hard to go home after having such a great time away but Naveen made us a yummy Sunday roast to help make the transition a bit more bearable.

Playdate with Maya

The only thing that could make frozen yogurt better is sharing it with a friend, especially a friend named Maya. :)

After our yogurt we walked over the the park. Maya was a good sport and played on all the fun kid equipment that Keira requested.

the twirly slide

the fancy balance beam

the big slide

and even the bouncy things

Thanks for a fun afternoon Maya!

Keira's 2nd Birthday!

Keira's 2nd birthday lasted all weekend long - lucky girl!

She celebrated on Friday with her friends at Emy's house and then we went to dinner at Benihana's with Glory, Toofan and Soraya. The girls were too cute holding hands on the way to the restaurant.

Keira thought it was pretty cool that a "ninja" made her dinner, however she was not a big fan of the chef hat.

Saturday morning Keira opened her gifts. She was super excited to see her new Skuut bike and as soon as she grows another inch I think she will be tall enough to use it. :)

We spent the next few hours opening and playing with each and every new toy. Keira is obviously very loved and says thank you to all her family and friends.

The afternoon was spent just hanging out in SF. We took a very long walk to Dolores Park as Keira insisted on bringing her baby in her new stroller. We didn't realize just how much extra time this would add on to our normal walk, but she did look awfully cute.

Keira's cake of choice this year was a brownie in the shape of a 2.

Here's hoping all her wishes come true this year.

Happy Birthday Sunshine! We love you!

7th Treatment

This month's treatment was extra special as it fell on Naveen's Birthday, with Keira's 2nd birthday just a few days after. I ordered Livestrong shirts for the family in honor of K's six month cancer free milestone. I also did my best to make some cute birthday cupcakes for my sunshines.

We lucked out with a sunny, private room and had a pizza picnic courtesy of Pizza My Heart (they deliver to LPCH!) We also had lots of visitors today, possibly because the nurses heard we had cupcakes, or possibly because our little girl knows how to make everyone smile!

Jamie and Maya came up toward the end of our treatment and Keira was totally stoked to get to hang out, color and read books.

Although we were only doing the IVIg infusion today we still did not get out of there until close to 5:30pm. It was, however, nice to go home, eat dinner and give K a bath before bed.

MRI and Clinic

Dr. Effinger gave us the good news that Keira's MRI came back clear. She assured us that she went down to Radiology to look at the scan with her own two eyes and all is well. :) This is what we expected but it is always nice to hear. Her next MRI is schedule for the end of June.

We took a few pictures while we were waiting for Keira to go in for her MRI. Grandma and Grandpa were in town so they were able to help keep the little one entertained, which was especially nice since the MRI was not scheduled until 11:30am and she could not eat or drink anything that morning.

Bear got his own wristband and pj's this visit. I am actually surprised she didn't think of that idea before!

The red popsicle was a bit hit in recovery!

It is so hard to believe that it has been SIX MONTHS since Keira's first diagnosis. We are so proud of how tolerant and brave she has been with all the medical procedures and treatments. She truly inspires us to Livestrong! In addition, her doctors continue to be amazed with how well she is doing and continue to push to reduce her medications. The goal for April is to get her steroids down to an every other day dosage. We are also going to push the next IVIg infusion until the end of May, which means 8 weeks between medication instead of the 4 week intervals we have been doing so far. Naveen and I have such mixed emotions about all these changes - of course we want Keira to be off the medication as soon as possible, but we also do not want to see any of the OMS symptoms come back and interfere with her development.

Bicycle Sunday

We are so happy to see sunshine again and wanted to celebrate Spring by getting out on our bikes!

K decided to let Bear sleep in and bring Baby along for the ride.

After a nice long nap, we stopped for a snack and some time to play.

We ended the afternoon with lunch at one of our favorite burger joints in Noe!
